Basically, California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) supervises two parts: 1)massage program/schools that meet the minimum education standards and training; 2) massage practitioners that meet the law requirements to protect the public.

Either school application or individual license application become challengeable since the law and education requirements were revised in 2015. As of July 1, 2016, CAMTC only accepts education from massage school programs that have been CAMTC approved. An education program by approved schools is required for massage therapist license applicants. The term of approval is two year. The program must be 500 hours, including 100 hours minimum various subjects.
